This is my favourite Christmas decor this year. The gigantic toy solder looks cute! The tiny soldiers below are mobile as well.
This will be my last post for the year. Going somewhere to brace the cold.. brrrrrrrrrr........
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! ;)

Fairy Lights

The much awaited festival of the year!
Malls have put up elaborate decorations - hey..I seem to have written that couple of times before :P It's very common here.
This pictures show some fairy lights / lanterns that this mall decided to put up for their xmas theme this year. I was expecting a fairy to come out of each lantern.
Chinese New Year and Hari Raya are celebrated more than 1 day. We are used to having more than 1 day of celebration. Therefore although Christmas is just 1 day, we have began 'celebrating' - buying presents, having pre-xmas dinner-year end parties- it since the start of December. Many are already in holiday mood.
When do you start celebrating?

Look Who's Here

Hello... Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs are here..for Christmas!
Another festive decor at the mall.. this time the mall built a giant snow-covered wooden cottage complete with colorful lights.
Fenix, Disney characters are quite popular here. We have annual performance of Disney on Ice where parents will spend much money bringing the kids to see Nemo, Beauty&The Beast etc..

Kolam

Opps..sorry this is a bit blurred

Some pictures of Kolam as I have previously mentioned. Kolam as defined in wikipedia, is a decorative design drawn in a variety of sandpainting using rice powder by female members of the family in front of their home.
It is sort of painted prayer -- a line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. You can see this in the wikipedia. I will post another design similar to this tomorrow. It is just made up of white lines.
I like the vibrant colors. I think they are done with specific procedures, otherwise it will be difficult to get each tiny rice powder in line. In case some are stubborn :p

Deepavali Decor

After Hari Raya, Deepavali is coming soon. Another colorful festive. The shopping malls have put up attractive decors again. One of the must-haves will be 'Kolam' (hope this is the correct spelling) - colorful pictures made up from different colors of rice. Will try to feature it in the next few posts.
Does your city have any celebrations for Deepavali?
